The transcript builder is an experimental feature that aims to make it easy to create transcripts that live on top of the existing comic, making it easier to read the comic in other languages.
This section gives instructions on how to edit the "word balloons" that show up on the comic page. Note that any changes you make in this transcript builder WILL NOT show up on the main comic right away. See the next section for how to submit your work for review, to be included on the main website.
Make a new word balloon. Double click anywhere on the comic image.
Move an existing word balloon. Click and drag the white bar at the top of any word balloon.
Resize an existing word balloon. Click and drag the resize handle at the bottom-right of any word balloon.
Delete an existing word balloon. Move the word balloon outside the comic image.
Add/change text on a word balloon. Double-click any word balloon and type/edit the text in the dialog that appears.
Load an existing translation. Select the language you want from the "Language" dropdown above. This will delete any unsaved work.
At the moment, these word balloons do not support Markdown, but they do support HTML tags like <b> and <i>
Once you have altered the word balloons in the comic image below to your liking, click the Copy JSON to Clipboard to copy the locations, sizes, and text of all the word balloons in their current state in JSON onto your clipboard.
If you're editing an existing transcript, click the Edit this Transcript link below and paste the JSON into the text box, replacing the existing text.
If you're creating a new transcript, click the Submit a Transcript link below. In the new page that opens, enter [LanguageName].json as the name of the file (e.g. Français.json), and paste the JSON into the text box.
Once you've edited the JSON to your liking, click the Commit Changes... button in the top-right of the screen, and follow the steps to create a Pull Request. Once we've approved it, your changes will be included on the main website the next time the website is built (usually around midnight every night).
